Privacy Policy for StyleStacker

StyleStacker (“we”, “us”) is a browser extension that helps you discover complementary outfit ideas while you browse clothing and accessories online.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension handles, how that information is used, where it may be sent, and the choices available to you. If there is any conflict between this policy, the Chrome Web Store listing, or in product disclosures, the most specific disclosure presented at the time of installation or within the extension will apply.
Summary
StyleStacker does not sell your personal data. To provide outfit recommendations, the extension reads product context from the pages you visit and may send a limited portion of that information to our backend systems and to OpenAI so that recommendations can be generated.
We do not require an account to use the core browsing features described in this policy.
Information the extension reads on websites
When you use StyleStacker on shopping websites, the extension may access non-sensitive product-related information that appears on the page or is derived locally in your browser. This may include:
- Product title or name
- Brand or retailer name
- Price and currency when visible
- Product category or tags when available
- Page URL for context
This information is processed in your browser unless you explicitly trigger a feature that requires server-side processing.
Information sent to our servers and third-party AI
Product catalog and recommendations
StyleStacker uses a remote product catalog to support outfit recommendations. When you use the extension, your browser may retrieve product-related information from our servers to help identify and match complementary items.
When you request personalized outfit suggestions, the extension may send limited product context from the page you are viewing along with a small set of relevant catalog items to our backend services. This information is used solely to generate recommendation results.
Our backend may process this information using third-party artificial intelligence services in order to produce outfit suggestions. Only the minimum information required to generate useful recommendations is shared for this purpose.
We do not collect full browsing histories or continuously track your activity. Data is only transmitted when you actively use recommendation features.
Use of third-party services for processing is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.
AI-powered recommendations (LLM)
When you request AI-powered outfit suggestions, your browser sends a request to our backend service. That request may include:
- Product information derived from the page you are viewing (for example, name, brand)
- A subset of candidate products from our catalog
Your OpenAI API key is not stored in the extension. All requests are routed through our backend system. These data transfers are required to generate contextual outfit recommendations based on the item you are viewing and available catalog options.
OpenAI. Processing is subject to OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy and their documentation for API customers. How long prompts or outputs may be retained is governed by those terms and your account settings with OpenAI (on our side we only send what is needed to return outfit suggestions).
Local storage in your browser
StyleStacker uses Chrome storage APIs on your device to improve performance and remember lightweight preferences, for example:
- Style or vibe preferences you select in the extension
- Onboarding or UI state so we don’t repeat one-time prompts unnecessarily
- Cached catalog or aggregate usage hints so the extension can load faster
This data stays on your device unless a feature explicitly sends information to our servers as described above.
Cookies and tracking
StyleStacker does not use third-party advertising cookies for behavioral advertising within the extension.
We may use limited tracking mechanisms in connection with product links, including affiliate or referral links, in order to measure performance and attribute conversions. These mechanisms are only used when you interact with relevant product recommendations or external retailer links.
Email and support
If you contact us at admin@stylestacker.com, we may collect your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry unless otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
Changes
We may update this policy when features change (for example new backends or AI providers). When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes may also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing or release notes where appropriate.
